Andrea Zhang is a mix-media artist and a storyteller who works primarily with photographic material. Educated in America and currently based in China, Andrea has navigated transcultural environments and perspectives since the age of 15, which shaped her interest in the intersectional and transitional. Her work examines the challenges of human interconnectivity and how lives are impacted by changing spaces and throughout time. In the spirit of dissecting the technologies and the ontology of photography, Andrea often works with cyanotypes, videos, and projections and she takes photographs in unconventional ways, such as using a flatbed scanner as the camera and replacing film negatives with coated paper.
Andrea received her BFA degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with distinction, and received her Master of Research degree in Arts & Humanity from the Royal College of Art in London in fall 2024.
